Up on the fourth floor at 29/1/B Armenian Street, things stay pretty hectic. The stairs can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up again, which happens more than we’d like. Downstairs on the street, it’s always noisy with people moving goods and rickshaws honking. Our space is filled with samples and cardboard boxes waiting to be taped up. We do a lot of exporting, mostly handling the logistics that people don't see. It involves a lot of sitting at computers and then suddenly running around to check a package. The light in the office is okay in the mornings, but by the afternoon, we have to turn all the lamps on. We’ve got a small corner for making coffee, though the kettle is older than some of the staff. People come in and out all day, mostly couriers or guys bringing over new fabric swatches. We try to keep things organized, but when three orders come in at once, the desks get buried under papers. Armenian Street has its own rhythm, and we’ve just become a part of it over the years. It’s a lot of mundane tasks, checking weights, printing labels, and making sure the address is right. Nothing too complicated, just steady work that keeps us occupied from nine to six. We usually leave the windows shut because of the dust from the street below. Anyway, that’s life here at Ambey Exports.
