Adi Dhakeswari

Adi Dhakeswari is over at No. 57/1 College Street. If you know the area, you know how busy it gets with all the students and old shops around. We have been here for a bit, tucked into this specific spot. The building isn't new, and the stairs can be a little steep if you aren't used to them. College Street has a certain smell, mostly old paper and tea, and we are right in the middle of that. We mostly just focus on what we have on the shelves. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to fit a lot of stuff in a small space. I usually sit near the front. The lighting could be better, I guess, but it works for what we need. Most of our customers are locals or people coming from the nearby colleges. I don't really do much advertising. People just find us or they've heard about us from someone else. It's a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and sorting through things. Sometimes we lose track of time because there are no windows in the back. It’s an honest way to make a living. I've seen the street change over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. It’s dusty and noisy outside, but inside we just do our work. Nothing more to it than that. We just open the doors in the morning and see who comes by. It is a simple life on a famous street.
