121 Couture Private Limited

Our place is at 121 Park Street, which is a very busy part of Kolkata. We are right across from the Bhagirathi Neotia Hospital. If you've been around there, you know the traffic is always a mess and there's a lot of noise. We like the location though because it feels alive. Our space isn't huge but we make the most of it. We do couture work, which basically means we spend a lot of time on small details. There are threads and pins all over the rugs. We don’t have a fancy receptionist. Usually, one of the tailors or I will just look up from the sewing machine when someone comes in. We have some mannequins standing in the corner wearing things we are still working on. It’s a bit of a mess most of the time. There are sketches taped to the walls and stacks of fabric books on the chairs. We don't follow a strict corporate schedule. Sometimes we are here very late because a piece isn't sitting right. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just make clothes that fit well and look okay. It’s hard work and your eyes get tired by the end of the day. But we've been at this spot for a while now and we know the regulars who walk by. Park Street is our home and we just keep doing our thing every day.
