Air Force School

Our school is tucked away inside the Kanpur Cantt area, right by No 7 A F Hospital. It’s a secure spot, being on the base and all. Most of the families here are connected to the service, so we have a lot of kids coming and going as their parents get moved around. The buildings are old but we keep them painted and clean as much as we can. It’s quiet inside the gates compared to the rest of Kanpur. We have a playground that gets pretty dusty in the summer months. The staff here mostly lives nearby. We start early in the morning before it gets too hot. You can hear the drills and the sounds of the hospital nearby sometimes. It’s a very disciplined kind of place, but the kids still run around and make a mess like kids do anywhere else. We don't have any big slogans or anything. We just teach the lessons and make sure the uniforms are straight. It gets very busy during the admission season. We handle it one day at a time. The canteen is small but it serves its purpose. It's a steady place to work and for the children to grow up. We’ve been here for years and the routine hasn't changed much. It’s just a regular school life for military families and others nearby. Sometimes we have events for the families, but mostly it is just about the classroom work and the daily schedule.
