South Pattiam Up School

We are located in the Pathayakkunnu area, right along the Vettummal Pathayakkunnu Road. If you are from around here in Kannur, you probably know the spot. The school has been standing for years, and it feels like a second home to many of us who spend our mornings and afternoons here. The kids walk in from the nearby lanes, carrying their bags and talking about whatever happened the night before. Our rooms are filled with the usual desks and chalkboards that have been used by many batches before this one. It’s an upper primary school, so the students are at that age where they are starting to grow up but still have that childhood energy. We don’t have any big corporate backing or anything like that; it’s just the staff, the students, and the local community helping out when they can. The playground gets quite dusty in the summer, and during the monsoon, we’re always checking for leaks or damp walls. It’s hard work sometimes, but seeing the children learn their subjects and play during the interval makes it feel worth it. We just focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids are safe while they’re on the premises. It’s a plain, honest place to get an education in this part of the district. We don't have much besides the basics, but it works for everyone here.
