Cmi Christ School

Out in Iritty, in the Kannur district, you’ll find Cmi Christ School. We are surrounded by a lot of greenery, which is typical for this part of Kerala. The school is a bit away from the main hustle of the bigger cities, so it’s a bit more peaceful here. We have kids coming from all over the Iritty area. The weather can be quite rainy, especially during the monsoon, and we spend a lot of time making sure the building stays in good shape through the wet months. It’s a simple setup. We have the classrooms and the outdoor spaces where the kids spend their time. The teachers here are mostly from around Kannur, so they know the local language and the way things work around here. We don’t go for anything too flashy or modern in terms of style; it’s just a solid place for schooling. You can hear the birds and the wind through the trees while the kids are in class. It’s a different pace of life than what you’d find in a big city school. We just open the gates every morning and do our best to get through the lessons planned for the day. There isn’t any corporate feel to it. It’s just us, the students, and the local community in Iritty trying to make things work year after year.
