Irivery East Lp School

Irivery East Lp School is a small primary school located in Iriveri, Kannur. It is one of those places that has been around for generations. Many of the grandparents in the village probably sat in these same classrooms when they were young. We have a few rooms for the different grades, and a small area where the kids can run around and play. It is not anything fancy. The walls are covered with drawings the children made, and the desks have names scratched into them from years ago. We start the day with a simple prayer and then get straight into the lessons. Being a lower primary school, we focus on the very beginning of education, like reading and basic math. Most of our students live within walking distance, so you see them coming in groups every morning. The teachers are part of the community here and often stay for their whole careers. We do not have much in the way of modern technology, but we have plenty of books and a lot of heart. Sometimes the roof needs a bit of work after a heavy monsoon, and we all pitch in to get things sorted. It is a quiet life here in Iriveri, mostly centered around the kids and their daily learning. We just try to provide a safe and steady place for them to start their journey. There is always a lot of laughter and some crying too, as you would expect with small children.
