Kottayam Raja'S High School

Kottayam Raja'S High School has its home in Pathiriyad, right near the Sankaranellur P. O. in Kannur. It is a very green area, especially after the rains. The school has been part of this landscape for a long time. You can tell by the size of the trees around the perimeter. Being so close to the post office makes it easy for people to find us. The building itself is spread out a bit. It’s not one of those tall modern blocks, but more of a traditional style that fits the village. We have a lot of students coming in from different parts of Kannur. Some come by bus and some just walk from the nearby houses in Pathiriyad. The hallways are usually echoing with voices until the teachers start their lessons. We don't have a lot of expensive equipment. It is mostly just the essentials like benches, tables, and books. The walls have posters that the kids made themselves. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just open the windows wider to let the light in. It is a peaceful place for the most part, though it gets loud when the lunch bell rings. We like it that way because it shows the kids are happy to be out and about. We don't really have a big office. Our staff room is just a place with some old wooden tables where we drink tea and talk about the kids. It’s a very simple life here.
