Eanathul Islam English Mrdium School

Madakkara is a quiet place, and our school fits right into that. We are up here in the Kannur district, and it’s a bit of a walk for some of the kids who come from the surrounding houses. We call it an English medium school because that’s what the parents want, even if the kids mostly talk in Malayalam once they step out of the classroom. The building is basic, painted a few times over the years, and it sits there on the road in Madakkara. We don’t have a big gate or security guards like the schools in the big cities. It’s just us and the students. The rainy season is always a bit of a challenge here because everything gets damp and the kids come in with muddy shoes. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors. The teachers are usually people from the town who have been with us for a long time. We don’t do fancy events or hire people to write about us. We just teach the subjects, grade the papers, and wait for the bell to ring at the end of the day. It’s a simple life for us. Most of the parents work nearby, so they know exactly what’s going on at the school. We have some old benches and blackboards that have been around since the start. It’s just a normal school where kids grow up and eventually move on.
