Sanjoe Public School

Our school is located in Kaniyaram, which is a small area in Mananthavady in the Wayanad - 670645 district. Because we are up here in the hills, there is a lot of green space and trees all around the building. The weather is usually much cooler than it is in the cities, but we do get a lot of heavy rain during the monsoon months. The school building is spread out over a bit of a slope. We have plenty of room for the kids to run around and play during their breaks. Most of our students come from the small villages and farms nearby, so the school buses are a very important part of our daily operation. The teachers are mostly local people who know the families in the area quite well. Inside the building, the classrooms are kept simple. We use basic wooden furniture and have large windows to let in the light. On some mornings, you can even see the mist coming right into the hallways. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment in every room. We mostly rely on the teachers and their chalkboards to get the lessons across. There is a small office where we keep all the student files and handle any paperwork that comes our way. People in the area know us as a quiet and steady place for their children to learn. We have to deal with the occasional power outage when the winds get strong. We just take everything one day at a time here.
