Muzhappilangad U P School

Muzhappilangad U P School is right in the heart of Muzhappilangad in Kannur. It has been around for many years, and you can see that in the old walls and the wooden benches. Many generations of local families have studied here. The school sits fairly close to the coast, so there is often a bit of a breeze coming through the classrooms. We have the usual setup with a playground where the kids run around during their lunch breaks. It gets very noisy then, but that is just how a school should be. We have a kitchen on the side where the midday meals are cooked for the children. You can usually smell the food being prepared around noon. The classrooms are simple with blackboards and old-fashioned desks that have been used by hundreds of students over time. We do not have anything fancy like air conditioning. We just use the ceiling fans and keep the doors open. During the monsoon months, the ground outside gets quite muddy, and we have to remind the kids to wipe their feet before coming inside. The teachers mostly come from nearby parts of Kannur, so everyone knows everyone else. It is a very local atmosphere where we just focus on the daily teaching and the school events. We keep the registers updated and make sure the kids are safe and learning what they need to.
