White Haven Estate Restaurant

White Haven Estate Restaurant is tucked away in Dharamshala, specifically in the Chilghari area. We are actually part of the White Haven Estate Hotel. If you are looking for our mail, it goes to P O Box 26. The 176213 area is quite beautiful, but it can be a lot of work to keep a restaurant running up here in the hills. The weather changes fast, and we often deal with cold mornings where the stove takes a bit longer to heat up. We are just a small crew of people who handle the cooking and the cleaning. It’s not like those big city restaurants with hundreds of tables. We get people who are staying at the hotel and also some folks from around Dharamshala who know we are here. The Chilghari part of town is a bit quieter than the main tourist spots, which we actually prefer. We spend a lot of time sourcing what we need because getting supplies up here isn't always easy. Sometimes the mountain roads are blocked, so we have to plan ahead. There is no corporate office telling us what to do; we just decide the daily tasks based on what needs fixing or who is coming for dinner. It’s a very hands-on way to live and work. We just keep the fires going and the tables wiped down for our guests.
