Gipsy Kings Cafe

Gipsy Kings Cafe is way up in Upper Bhagsunag, which is just above McLeod Ganj in Dharamshala. If you are coming here, you probably already know that you have to walk up some steep paths to get to this part of the mountain. It’s a lot quieter up here than it is down in the main square of McLeod Ganj. We have a very simple cafe with some tables and chairs where you can sit and look out at the hills. The air is a lot cooler up here, and sometimes the clouds come right into the cafe when it’s raining. We get a lot of travelers and backpackers who are staying in the guesthouses nearby. Our kitchen is small and we make things as they are ordered, so it’s not the fastest place in the world. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a big staff. It’s just us making sure there is hot tea and some food for people who have been hiking up to the waterfall or just walking around the mountain. The vibe is very relaxed because everyone is usually tired from the climb. We’ve been here for a while and we’ve seen the area change, but our little spot stays pretty much the same. Sometimes the monkeys come around and we have to keep an eye on them so they don’t take anything. It’s just a normal mountain cafe for people who like being away from the noise.
