Shri Jodhpur Restaurant

The road to Jaisalmer is long and dusty. We are located in Dechu, which is a good place for people to stop when they are driving out of Jodhpur. Shri Jodhpur Restaurant is near the Sivaji Mandir, so we get a lot of local people and also tourists heading towards the desert. The sun gets really hot out here in Rajasthan. We have a lot of space for people to park their cars. Inside, it’s a bit cooler. We serve the kind of food we grew up eating. It’s nothing like what you find in the big city hotels. We have some regulars who drive this route every week for work. They usually sit in the same spot. The temple nearby brings in people on festival days, and then it gets really crowded. We have to bring in extra help then. Most days, it’s just the usual routine of prepping vegetables and making sure the kitchen is ready. The wind blows a lot of sand around, so we are always cleaning the floors. It feels like as soon as you sweep, more sand comes in under the door. That’s just life in this part of the country. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the road get wider over the years. We just keep doing our thing and serving whoever stops by on their journey. It is a quiet existence mostly.
