Pushpa Bhojnalaya

Pushpa Bhojnalaya sits right at the Jalori Gate Chauraha in Jodhpur - 342001. It is a spot where you will usually find us busy over the stove. We do not have a long history or any fancy stories to tell. We just open up in the morning and start cooking. The place is small and can get pretty crowded when everyone comes in for their midday meal. We use a lot of local spices and whatever vegetables are good that day. It is noisy because of all the traffic at the crossroads, but we do not mind it much anymore. We spend a lot of time washing dishes by hand and making sure the floor is not slippery. It is not the kind of place where you sit for hours; people usually eat and then head back to work. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. Sometimes we run out of chairs and people have to wait, but nobody seems to mind too much. We do the shopping ourselves at the market every morning before the sun gets too high. It is a lot of heavy bags to carry back. We do not have a website or anything like that. If you want to know what is for lunch, you just have to come in and look at the board. We just keep doing what we do every day without much fuss. It is a living.
