Vaidik Pratimalaya

Our place is called Vaidik Pratimalaya and you can find us at No. 2330 in Khajane Walon Ka Rasta. This is right in Chandpole Bazar, which is one of the oldest parts of the city. The lanes here are very narrow and always crowded with shoppers and scooters. Our workshop is tucked inside one of these old buildings. We spend our days carving and shaping figures. It’s something that has been done in this part of Chandpole for generations. The air is always filled with the smell of stone and the sound of small chisels. We don’t have a big storefront with glass windows. It is more of an open room where you can see us working on the floor. Most of our tools are quite simple, things we have used for years. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on the small details. Sometimes the light isn't very good in the back of the shop, so we move closer to the street. People walking by often stop to watch for a minute. It is a very traditional way of doing things. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on being here in the bazaar every day. It is hard work on the back and the hands, but we are used to it by now.
