Deepak Moorti Kala Kendra

Our place is at B-204 on Khazane Walon Ka Rasta. It’s tucked away near the Sawarda Complex in Chandpole Bazar. If you know Jaipur, you know how these narrow lanes are. They are always full of people, cycles, and the smell of food mixed with stone dust. Chandpole Bazar is where most of this work happens, and we’ve been part of it for a while. Our workshop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. We keep the moortis on shelves and sometimes on the floor when we run out of space. The Sawarda Complex is a good landmark if you get lost, which is easy to do in these backstreets. We do a lot of the carving right here. It gets dusty, and the white powder gets on everything, including our clothes and the tea cups. We don’t mind it much. It’s just part of the job at Deepak Moorti Kala Kendra. We don't use fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand with old tools that have been around for years. The neighbors are all doing similar work, so there’s a constant sound of tapping against stone. It’s a busy life. We usually stay until late in the evening when the bazaar starts to cool down a bit. It’s not a shiny showroom, just a real place where things are made. Most people find us through word of mouth or by just walking past.
