Mishr Moorti Bhandar

We are located at 2300, Khazane Walo Ka Rasta, right at the 1st cross in Chandpole Bazar. It’s a very old part of the city, and our shop has seen a lot of years go by. Like most places in this lane, we focus on making moortis out of stone. It’s a messy job, and the front of the shop is usually cluttered with blocks of marble and tools. My grandfather used to sit in the same spot I do now, working on the finer details of a face or a hand. We don’t have fancy displays or air conditioning. Most of the time, the door is wide open to let the dust out, even when it’s hot outside. People walking by often stop just to watch us work for a minute before moving on. We do everything by hand, so it’s a slow process. Sometimes a customer wants something finished in a week, and we have to tell them it’s just not possible if they want it done right. The stone dictates the pace, not the clock. We get our materials delivered on carts because the lanes are too narrow for big trucks. It’s a simple life, focused on the hammer and the chisel. We don't spend money on ads; our work just sits out front for everyone to see. If you’re looking for the 1st cross, just look for the place with the most white dust on the sidewalk.
