Moorti Kala Kendra is tucked away at 1919 Tikkarmal Ki Gali. We are on Khajanewalon Ka Rasta, not too far from the Gemini Building. If you’ve ever walked through these narrow lanes, you know it can be a bit of a maze. Our shop is right in the heart of where all the traditional work happens. We spend our time making and selling moortis. It’s a craft that’s been around this area for a long time. The space is small and often filled with stone dust and half-finished pieces. We don't have a fancy entrance or big glass windows. It’s just a regular workshop where we do our daily tasks. Being near the Gemini Building helps people find us, otherwise they might get lost in the gali. Tikkarmal Ki Gali has its own rhythm, with neighbors popping in and out to chat. We aren't big on slogans or grand promises. We just work on the figures and hope people like what they see. It gets pretty hot in the summer inside these old buildings, but we keep the fans going and stay busy. Sometimes the road gets blocked by a cart or a delivery, and everyone just waits their turn. That’s just how life is here. We focus on our tools and the stone in front of us. It’s a quiet kind of work in a very loud part of the city. We have been in this lane for years and it feels like home.
