Tanumurti Arts

Our shop is right on the Main Tonk Road in Sanganer. If you look across the way, you can see the airport runway, so we hear the planes taking off and landing all day and night. We are located right by the Hanuman Tubel Company. It is a very busy part of Sanganer, with lots of dust and noise from the traffic on Tonk Road. We spend most of our time working on statues and different art pieces. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons. Being so close to the airport means there is always something going on nearby. We have been at this spot for years, and most of the people driving by recognize the murtis sitting outside. It is hard work, moving the heavy stones and carving out the shapes. We don't have any fancy equipment, just the tools we have always used. Sometimes the planes are so loud we have to stop talking for a second. Sanganer is a good place for this kind of work though. We know the other business owners on this stretch of Tonk Road. It is a very practical setup we have here. We just show up, do the carving, and try to keep things tidy, even though it is hard with all the grit from the road.
