Ramgopal Moortp Kala Kandra

Our place is at Gopal Nagar, right near the Gopalpura Bye Pass. If you’re coming off Tonk Road, it’s not too hard to find us, especially since we’re right there C/O Ashok Gheeya. Ramgopal Moortp Kala Kandra is a busy spot, mostly because there’s always something being carved or moved around. The marble dust gets everywhere, on our clothes and on the floor, but that’s just part of the job. Being near the bypass means there’s a lot of noise from the trucks and cars, but we get used to it after a while. We have been doing this work for a long time, just piece by piece. The sun gets pretty hot in the afternoons here in Gopal Nagar, so we try to do the heavier work early on. It’s a practical workshop, not a showroom with glass windows and air conditioning. We just have our tools and the stone we’re working on. Sometimes people stop by because they saw us from the road. We just keep our heads down and focus on the stone. It’s a long day, but it’s what we know. The area has changed a lot over the years with more buildings going up, but we’re still here at the same spot, doing the same work we’ve always done. We just keep our tools sharp and our heads down, making sure we get the day's tasks finished before heading home to rest.
