Garg Gems is situated at No. 12, and the best way to find us is to look for Lala Halwai. We are right there near him in Heeda Ki Mori, Ramganj. It’s a very busy part of the city, and the air always smells like sweets from the shop next door. Our space is small and can get quite crowded when we have a lot of stones to go through. We spend hours under the desk lamps just looking at things and sorting them into little jars. Ramganj is the kind of place where there is always noise—scooters honking and people shouting. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. The floor in our shop is old stone, and we have been meaning to fix the fan for a while because it squeaks. There’s a lot of history in this neighborhood, and you can feel it in the narrow lanes. We don't have a fancy showroom. It's just a place where we sit and work with our hands. Most days involve a lot of tea and a lot of patience. People come in and out, often just to chat or ask for directions. We’ve become a part of the local scenery over the years. It’s a simple life here, focused on the small details of the gems and the daily rhythm of the market. We don't change much around here and just keep doing what we know.
