If you know Johari Bazar, you know how crowded it gets. We are right in the middle of it at No. 1096. You have to go up to the second floor on Gopal Ji Ka Rasta. Lucky Gems is a small operation, mostly just a few of us sitting at benches working. The street downstairs is always full of people and noise, but it is a bit quieter once you get upstairs. We have been in this part of town for years. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, and the building is quite old, like most things in this area. We do not have a big storefront window to show off. Most of our work is done at the back tables under good lights. We spend our days looking at small stones and pieces. It is a lot of sitting and focusing. Sometimes customers come in looking for something specific, and we have to dig through our drawers to find it. Johari Bazar is the place for this kind of work, so it makes sense for us to be here. The space is a bit cramped with all the tools and little boxes everywhere. We do not really bother with decorations or making it look like a fancy boutique. It is just a workshop where we handle gems. We know the neighbors pretty well since we have all been on this road for ages. It is just how things are in the old city.
