Primo Gems

Our shop is on the first floor right by the Rang Behari Temple. If you look out the window, you can see the Hawa Mahal right across the street, which is a pretty nice view even after seeing it every single day for years. Primo Gems is a small place, mostly just a couple of counters and some chairs that have seen better days. We deal with stones and gems all day long. It’s quiet work, mostly looking through magnifying glasses and making sure the cuts are right. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles here. The floor is old, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we're too busy with the stones to worry about that. People come in from the street, sometimes tourists and sometimes locals we've known forever. We don't do big fancy sales pitches. We just show what we have on the velvet pads and talk about the quality. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but people don’t seem to mind. The bells from the temple next door ring at certain times of the day, and it’s a nice sound that lets us know how much time has passed. We keep things simple and honest. We’re just regular people trying to make a living in a very famous part of town, doing work that requires a lot of patience.
