Maharudhra Moorti Kala Kendra

Maharudhra Moorti Kala Kendra is situated at Plot Number A-77, right on Khajane Walo Ka Rasta. We are specifically located at the Dusra Chouraha, which is the second crossing, in the Chandpole Bazar area. Our daily life involves a lot of stone and marble. We spend most of our hours carving and shaping figures. It’s a very physical job, and we usually go home with dust in our hair and on our shoes. The workshop is open to the street, so you can hear the sounds of our tools from outside. We don't have a fancy reception area or anyone to answer the phones with a script. Usually, someone is just working in the back and will come out if they hear someone walk in. The street we are on is very narrow and always crowded with rickshaws and motorbikes, which makes getting large blocks of marble delivered a bit of a challenge. We just make it work, though. We’ve been at this second crossing for a long time, and the locals know us by name. Our hands are often sore by the end of the week, but seeing a finished statue makes it feel okay. We don't try to be anything we aren't; we are just craftsmen doing what we know how to do. It’s a slow process, but we aren't in any hurry to change how we work. That's just the way it goes around here every single day. We keep the shop open and just focus on the next piece of stone.
