If you’re looking for us, we’re at H. No. 2171, in the Dixit Bhavan building. It’s on Khezdo Ka Rasta, at the first cross near Chandpole Bazar. It can be a bit tricky to find if you’re not from around here, as these old streets all look a bit similar. Kamal Natyan Moorti Bhandar is a family-run kind of thing. We’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember. The shop is usually filled with the sound of hammers and chisels. We make idols and statues, and it’s the kind of work that takes a lot of time. You can’t really rush it or it won't look right. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know what we’re doing. Most of the day is spent covered in marble dust. We don't have an air-conditioned office or fancy desks. We just sit on the floor or on low stools and get to it. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat, or we have to move heavy pieces of stone out of the way to make more room. It’s a bit cramped inside, especially when we have a few big orders going at once. We don’t really do any advertising. People usually find us because they saw something we made for someone else. It’s just plain, hard work that keeps us going from one day to the next.
