Our workshop is out at Plot No.- J-238 in Sarna Dungar. It's a bit of a trek for some, but it’s where we have the space to actually get things done. At Kalpana Murti Arts, we don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It’s mostly just tools, stone, and the sound of hammers. We spend the whole day out here. Sarna Dungar is an industrial kind of area, so it’s not exactly quiet, but we like the energy. We start early in the morning when it’s still a bit cool. Most days are long. We get a lot of stone coming in and finished pieces going out. My clothes are always ruined from the work, but that’s just part of the deal when you’re making murti. We aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. We just do the work and hope people like what we make. Sometimes the machines act up or the power goes out, and we just sit and wait or do things by hand for a while. It’s a simple life out here at J-238. We’ve got our routine and we stick to it. If you come by, you’ll see us covered in dust, probably drinking tea during a quick break. It’s not a showroom; it’s a place where things actually get made. We just keep at it, one day at a time.
