Up on the fourth floor of the Shree Ratnam building, that’s where we are. It is located at 401, right on M.S.B Ka Rasta in the Johari Bazar area. If you’ve ever been to Johari Bazar, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the rickshaws and people everywhere. The climb up the stairs to the fourth floor can be a bit of a workout, especially in the heat, but the view from the window of the MSB crossing is quite something. We have been here for a while, working out of this space. It’s not a very big room, just enough for a few chairs and the work tables. We keep the gems in small pouches and spend hours just moving them around and looking at the colors. The light from the window is the best for seeing the stones properly. Usually, the office is pretty quiet except for the sounds coming up from the street below. We don’t have any big corporate mission or anything like that. We just show up, do the work, and handle the gems that come across our desks. There is always a lot of tea drinking and small talk while we work. It’s just a regular spot in the heart of the old city where people have been trading for generations. We fit right in with the rest of the busy market. The 2nd crossing is always a mess of traffic.
