About Jai Shree Ram Moorti Kala Kendra – Gifts in Jaipur
Started at Plot No-8A Mahaveer Colony in Kartarpura quite a while back. It’s mostly just us here every day, working with the stones and the tools. The workshop gets pretty dusty by noon, especially when the sun hits the street outside. People in the colony know us by the sound of the hammers. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular spot where we do the carving. We spend most of our time out back or at the front bench. Kartarpura is a busy enough area, but our little corner stays focused on the work at hand. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a break, then it’s back to the pieces we’re finishing. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just the space here in Mahaveer Colony where the Moorti Kala happens. It’s hard work, and my hands are usually covered in white powder by the time I head home. We’ve been at this for years now, just keeping things steady. The neighbors are used to the noise. We open up early and usually stay until the light goes. There’s always a lot to do, and we just take it one day at a time. It’s just how things are run here. Nothing too complicated, just a local spot in the neighborhood. We see the same faces every day and we like the routine of it. It keeps us busy and out of trouble, I suppose.
