Our shop is at 1992 Khunteto Ka Rasta, which is right in the middle of Kishan Pol Bazar. It's been Hira Lal & Sons for generations now. The space isn't very large, so we have to stack things high up to the ceiling. You have to be careful when pulling something down. We deal with a lot of local people who have been coming to us since they were kids. It’s a family business, so there's usually a cousin or a brother sitting behind the counter. The morning starts with opening the shutters and sweeping the front. Then we wait for the first customers of the day. The bazar is loud and full of motorcycles, but we are used to it. We don't really do much online stuff, we prefer talking to people face to face. We have some old wooden benches where people can sit while we show them what we have. It’s mostly just hard work and keeping track of the stock. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power is low in the area. We just keep a flashlight handy. It's not a fancy place by any means. We focus on the things we sell and making sure people get what they actually need. If you walk down the rasta, you’ll find us easily enough. We usually close up when the sun goes down and the market gets a bit thinner. We sit outside for a bit before going home.
