Goverdhan Moorti Arts

Goverdhan Moorti Arts is based out of Ganga Mata Ki Gali, right here in the Chandpole Bazar area. We’ve been at House Number 2442 for quite a while now. Most people know the spot because it’s tucked into Khazane Walo Ka Rasta, which is a busy little part of town. Our work mostly involves carving figures out of stone and marble. It’s dusty work, and our hands are usually covered in white powder by the end of the day. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass doors or anything. It's just a workshop where we spend our hours chipping away at blocks of marble to make them look like something recognizable. Sometimes the air gets thick with the sound of hammers hitting chisels, and the neighbors probably get a bit tired of it, but that is just how things get done here. If you walk down the lane, you can see the pieces lined up near the door. Some are small, others are bigger than a person. We just keep our heads down and focus on the stone in front of us. It’s a craft that takes time, and we don't like to rush things. If a piece isn't looking right, we just keep working on it until it does. Life in Chandpole Bazar is fast, but inside the shop, everything moves a bit slower. We’ve been doing this for years, and the routine stays pretty much the same every single morning.
