A. V. Gems is located over at H. No. 5288/21, right near Chandi Ka Tazia in the Ghat Gate area. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't familiar with the little lanes around here, but once you get close, people usually know where the house is. We work with gemstones mostly. It's a small setup inside the building. Most of our time is spent looking at stones under the light, checking for cracks or seeing how the color looks that day. The weather affects how the stones look sometimes, especially when it’s cloudy outside. We don't have those big glass counters you see in the malls. It’s more of a place where we sit on the floor or at small tables and sort through what we have. It can get a bit cluttered with all the small packets and the scales we use for weighing everything. My family has been around this area for a long time, so we know the neighbors well. They stop by to chat sometimes. We just do our work and try to keep things moving. Dealing with gems is quiet work. You have to have a lot of patience because things don't always go right on the first try. If you ever find yourself walking near Ghat Gate, you'll probably see us through the doorway, just sitting there working away at the stones while the tea gets cold on the table.
