You can find us at House Number 2446, on the fourth floor of Gopal Kunj. This is right on Ghee Walon Ka Rasta in Johari Bazar. Being on the fourth floor means we are quite high up, and the stairs are definitely steep. It’s an old building with a lot of character, the kind where the walls are thick and the hallways are narrow. Our office, Gems Club Private Limited, is just a practical space. We have some sorting tables and a couple of old fans that have been around as long as the building has. Working in Ghee Walon Ka Rasta is interesting because of all the different smells from the shops nearby. It’s a very busy part of the city. We spend most of our time sitting near the windows where the light is good for looking at the stones. We don’t really do any advertising or anything like that. People who need us usually know exactly where Gopal Kunj is. The daily routine involves a lot of counting and bagging stones, and making sure the paperwork matches up. It’s a bit of a messy office sometimes, with papers piled up on the desks and empty tea cups here and there. But we know where everything is. It’s just a normal, everyday gem business in one of the oldest parts of Jaipur, and we like the rhythm of it. The stairs keep us fit.
