Food Frolic

Food Frolic is tucked away in Shyamnagar, specifically at D 128 on Janpath. Jaipur has changed a lot, but this neighborhood still feels familiar to us. We’ve got this little spot where we handle all the cooking and serving. It isn't a massive operation, just a few of us working together. Most days start with a trip to the market to see what is available, then we head back to Janpath to set things up. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down until it cools off. We don’t spend money on big ads or anything like that. People mostly find us because they live nearby or work in the local offices. It is a lot of peeling, chopping, and washing dishes. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait it out, which is just how it goes here. We don’t have a fancy menu that changes every week. We stick to what we know and what people seem to like. The street outside can get a bit narrow with all the parked bikes, but we manage. It is a quiet life for the most part, just making food and making sure the floor is swept. We like being in Shyamnagar. It feels like home to us. There is always a pile of crates in the corner and something bubbling on the stove, which is exactly how we like it.
