You can find Mariyam Gems Services at No. 559/3 in the H.A.R. Colony. We are just outside the Chaar Darwaja area, which is a part of town that has been around forever. It’s a bit of a walk from the main gate, but we are easy to spot once you get into the colony. We deal with all kinds of gemstones here. It’s a small operation, mostly just a few of us sitting at our benches with magnifying glasses and small tools. There is a lot of fine work involved, so it’s usually pretty quiet inside while everyone concentrates on what they’re doing. We don't have a big storefront with lights and displays. Instead, it’s more of a workshop feel where the actual labor happens. People bring us stones to look at or ask us to help them with specific tasks related to the gems. The lighting has to be just right, so we have these big lamps over every desk. Sometimes the colony gets a bit noisy with kids playing or people moving about, but inside the shop, we stay focused on the stones. We’ve been working in this trade for a long time, learning the difference between one rock and another just by looking at them. It’s not a glamorous job, despite what people think about jewelry. It involves a lot of sitting, cleaning, and careful checking. We just do our best to be honest about what we see and provide a straightforward service to the people who come by.
