We are tucked away on the ground floor of 19a Mukhram Kanoria Road in Howrah. If you find the Balaji Mandir, you’re basically there. It’s a crowded street, like most of Howrah is. We’ve been running this restaurant for a while, and it’s mostly a local crowd that comes in. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just a simple door that stays open most of the day. Inside, it’s pretty plain. We focus on getting the food out to the tables. The floor is old tile and the fans hum all day long to keep the air moving. We get a lot of people coming in after they visit the temple. It’s a good spot to sit for a minute and have a meal away from the heat of the road. We don't do anything too fancy with the menu. It's just the usual stuff people expect around here. Sometimes we run out of water or a certain vegetable if the market was short that morning. That’s just part of running a small business in this neighborhood. We know our regulars by name and they know we’ll give them a fair plate of food. It’s not a place for a fancy date, but it works for a quick lunch. We just keep things moving and try to stay on top of the cleaning. It is just a basic neighborhood eatery.
