If you find yourself on Shibpur Road in Howrah, you might see us. Bridge View Restaurant is at 159/1/1, and we’ve been here serving food for a long time now. The name comes from being so close to the river and the big bridges that everyone knows Howrah for. The air here has that specific smell of the city and the river water. It’s a busy street, lots of rickshaws and people walking by at all hours of the day. Our building is old, and it has some character, maybe a few cracks here and there in the plaster, but it’s sturdy. Inside, it’s mostly just simple tables and chairs for the customers. We don't have a professional designer or anything like that. We just put things where they fit and where they make sense. The kitchen is always loud with the sound of pans clanging and people talking to each other. We serve the kind of food we grew up eating ourselves. Some days the humidity makes everything feel slow and heavy, but we keep the fans going to help out. It’s a place where you can see the local life of Howrah right outside the door. We aren't trying to win any fancy awards or anything. We just want to make sure the food is hot and there’s a place for people to sit down and eat. It feels honest, and we like it that way.
