You can find us at 1/1 Belilious Road over in Howrah. This is an old part of the city and the streets are often packed with trucks and trolleys moving goods around. We have been cooking biryani here for a long time. The pots are huge and we start preparing the rice and meat early in the day so it is ready for the lunch crowd. It gets very hot in the kitchen especially during the summer months in Bengal. We don’t have much room for sitting down so most people just take their food in packets and eat at their workspace or take it home. The smell of the spices usually drifts down the road and that’s how most people find us. We use a lot of potatoes in our biryani because that is how people like it here in Howrah. Sometimes the rice is a bit more oily than other days but we try to keep it consistent. We aren't looking to become a big franchise or anything like that. We just want to sell out our stock every day so we can go home to our families. The counter is usually a bit messy with paper bags and spoons scattered around when things get busy. It is just a local spot for a quick meal. We don't have a website or any fancy menus. Just a board with the prices written on it and a guy standing out front shouting the names of the dishes to help the drivers passing by find their way through the crowd.
