B. S. Engineering Works

We are located in the Santragachi area, specifically in Ichapur Sealdanga near the Mannapara neighborhood. This part of town feels very traditional, with many small workshops and houses all tucked close together. The weather here is often very humid, so the walls of our shop always seem a bit damp no matter the season. We have a space that has been used for metalwork for a long time now. The floor is dark and stained from years of oil spills and iron filings. We have a few old machines that make a lot of noise when they are running, so you can usually hear us working from all the way down the street. We start our day by sliding open the large metal shutters and sweeping out the front area. Most of our neighbors are also doing some kind of manual labor or trade, so there is a constant background sound of hammering and clanking in the air. We do not have any fancy air conditioning in here, just a couple of old ceiling fans that spin fast but do not do much to stop the sweat. We keep our records in a heavy paper ledger book on a small wooden desk tucked in the back corner. Usually, we take a tea break in the afternoon when the local tea seller walks by with his kettle. It is a simple life focused on the work.
