B.S. Engineering Co.

B.S. Engineering Co. is tucked away in Kaipukur Lane in Shibpur. This is a very old part of Howrah and the lanes are quite narrow. Getting a large truck or even a small van in and out of 26/52 takes a lot of patience and some good driving skills. We have been operating from this location for a long time. My father was the one who started things here before I took over the management. The walls of the shop have plenty of stains from years of heavy work, but the machines we use are still very solid and reliable. We mostly deal with engineering parts for other local factories. The humidity in West Bengal can be a real problem for the metal, so we spend a lot of time making sure everything is oiled and stored correctly so nothing gets ruined. Most of the staff here have been with us for more than ten years, so we are more like a family than just coworkers. We know each other’s kids and share our lunch most days. We are not trying to change the world or anything like that. We just want to make sure the orders are ready when the customers expect them. When the sun goes down and we pull the shutters, it finally gets quiet on the lane. It is a simple life but it keeps us busy and satisfied with what we do.
