Chandra Industrial Works

You can find Chandra Industrial Works tucked away on Fakir Chand Ghosh Lane, not far from the old Parbati cinema hall in the Ghosh Para area of Santragachi. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We’ve been in this spot for quite a long time, and the building shows its age a little, but it’s sturdy. Being near the cinema hall makes it easy for people to find us, which is good because the lanes can be confusing. We do industrial work, mostly involving metal and parts that people need for their own shops or projects. It’s noisy and there’s usually a bit of dust in the air, but that’s normal for a place like ours. We don't have a fancy office with leather chairs. We have a desk with a lot of papers on it and a workshop that’s seen a lot of use over the years. The people who work here are mostly from around the neighborhood. We grew up seeing this kind of work, so it felt natural to just keep it going. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to. Most of our day is spent with tools in our hands. We aren't trying to be the biggest industrial works in the state, we just want to keep the shop running and help out the people who come to our door in Santragachi. It’s a quiet but busy kind of life for us.
