You can find us right on College Road, very close to the Shibpur Botanical Garden. It’s a very old part of the area, and the atmosphere around here is quite different because of all the trees and the history. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a very long time. The buildings have that aged look that you only get with years of use. It’s not one of those modern, shiny campuses you see in the newer parts of the city. Instead, we have thick walls and high ceilings. Most people know us because of how close we are to the gardens. It’s a landmark that everyone recognizes. The walk from the main gate takes a few minutes, and you’ll see people sitting around talking or heading to their next lecture. We have labs and offices spread across the grounds. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or a door squeaks, but that’s just the character of an old place like this. We don’t bother much with slick marketing or anything. The students come here, do their science and engineering work, and eventually move on. It’s a cycle we’ve seen many times. The weather can get quite humid being near the water and the gardens, but we just open the windows and keep going. It’s a grounded place where the focus is mostly on the books and the experiments happening inside. We take it one semester at a time, making sure things work for everyone here. We stay open late most days.
