Anamika & Brother'S Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are set up over in Khanupur Shahabad, which is a part of Hardoi. Rekha Devi’s place is where we keep our main records and meet up when there is a lot to do. The name of the company, Anamika & Brother’S, kind of shows it is a family and community thing for us. It isn't just one person running the show, but a whole bunch of us from the village trying to make the farming life a bit easier. Hardoi can be a tough place to make a living if you are just one small farmer on your own. We figured out that if we put our names together on paper, we might get better prices for what we grow. Most days, we are out in the sun, so the company stuff happens in the evenings or early mornings. We don’t have any slick talk or big promises to give. It is just about getting the seeds planted and the crops sold without losing too much in the middle. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and other times it comes too much, but having this group helps us stay sane. We talk about the soil, the tractors, and who needs help with their harvesting this week. It is a very local way of doing things. We stay busy with the actual farming and only deal with the company paperwork because we have to. It keeps us moving forward together and ensures the village stays working. It is hard work but it is ours.
