Mallava Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is located right here in Mallwan, specifically in the Akbarpur area of Hardoi. We use Raghubeer Prasad’s place as our main point for meeting up. Farming in Hardoi has its own set of problems, mostly with the water and getting the right price for what we grow. A bunch of us decided that instead of everyone going their own way, we should have a name for our group. That is how this company started. We aren't doing anything revolutionary. Mostly, we just talk about what we are planting and how to get it to the market without losing too much money to the middleman. Raghubeer has been around a long time and knows how things work here. Most days, you’ll find a few of us sitting outside, discussing the latest prices or looking at some new seeds. The soil in Mallwan is good if you treat it right, but it takes a lot of sweat. We don't have any glossy brochures or fancy equipment. It is just about the land and the people who work it every day. When the harvest season hits, it gets very busy and we hardly have time to breathe. We just want to make sure that the farmers in our little corner of Akbarpur can keep going for another year. It’s a hard life but it is what we know.
