Veejay Modern Rice Mill

We are located in the Industrial Estate at Angamaly South, which is part of the Ernakulam district. Being in an industrial zone means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories, so there is a constant hum of activity around us. Our rice mill has been here for a while, and we spend our days hulling and processing the paddy that comes in from the local areas. The smell of the rice being worked on is very strong, especially when the dryers are running. We have a few large machines that take up most of the space in the building. Our office is just a tiny corner with a table and a couple of chairs where we talk to the farmers and traders. The weather in Kerala can be very wet, so we have to be careful about keeping the grain dry during the monsoon season. We don't have a big marketing team or any shiny brochures. People in the area just know where we are and what we do. The work is dusty and can be quite hot, especially in the afternoon, but we just keep the machines moving. Most of the guys here have been working at the mill for years and know exactly how to fix the equipment if it starts making a strange noise. The morning humidity can be tough, making the rice bags feel twice as heavy as they actually are. It’s just a regular local business doing its work every day.
