A. V. Thomas & Company Limited

We are located out here on Bristow Road, right on Willlingdon Island. It is a bit of a trek to get to if you aren’t used to the port area, but we have been at P.O. Box No. 520 for a long time now. A. V. Thomas & Company Limited is just a group of people trying to keep things moving. Most days start pretty early because the weather gets heavy in the afternoon. You can see the ships and the cranes from certain spots near the building. Inside the office, it’s mostly just desks piled with folders and the sound of the ceiling fans clicking away. We don’t have any fancy lobby or anything like that. People come in, we talk about the shipments or the accounts, and we get back to it. It’s a lot of paperwork and making sure the crates are where they should be. Sometimes the internet acts up because of the sea air or just bad luck, but we manage. We’ve seen the island change a lot over the years, though our little corner stays mostly the same. It’s quiet in the evenings when the main port traffic slows down. We aren’t trying to do anything world-changing, just handling our daily tasks and making sure the folks who rely on us get what they need. If you walk past the gate, you might see a few of us taking a tea break near the entrance.
