Kolenchery isn’t a huge place, but it’s where we’ve set up shop at Plant Lipids. We work with plants, mostly getting out the oils and extracts that people use for all kinds of things. It’s a bit of a green area around here, which makes sense given what we do. The smell around the facility can be quite strong depending on what we’re processing that day—sometimes it’s spices, other times it’s something more floral. We started small, just a few people interested in what plants could offer, and over the years, the building has expanded. It’s not a fancy corporate office. It feels more like a place where science meets a farm. We have a lot of local people working here, and everyone knows each other’s families. We don’t spend much on big ads or trying to look like we’re from the city. We just focus on the drums and the extracts. Sometimes the rains in Kerala make things a bit difficult with transport, but we’re used to it. We keep our heads down and focus on the quality of what’s in the containers. People seem to appreciate that we don't overcomplicate things. We’re just a bunch of folks in Kolenchery who know a lot about plants and how to get the best out of them. It’s simple work, even if the machines look a bit complicated to someone passing by.
