Sri Devi Restaurant

We have been here on Mangaladevi Road for a while now. The Devi Complex is easy to find if you know the way to Kathi Church. Most days start pretty early because the morning air in Mangalore is the only time it is actually cool. We spend a lot of time cleaning the tables and making sure everything is ready before the first few people show up. It is a busy street, especially with all the vehicles heading down towards the main temple area. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the horns, but you get used to it after a few years. We just do our work. The kitchen gets hot by noon, but that is how it goes in a place like this. We see a lot of the same faces every day, people who work nearby or live around the corner. It is nice to know their names or at least what they usually like to eat without them having to say much. My family helps out when things get extra busy. We do not have fancy decorations or anything like that. It is just a regular spot in the complex where you can sit down for a bit. The church is just a short walk away, so we get people stopping by after their prayers too. It is a quiet life in some ways, even with the traffic outside. We just keep the doors open and do what we do every day.
