Coastal Bar & Restaurant is sitting right under the flyover at Kottara Chowki in Mangalore. If you’re driving on N H 17, you can’t really miss the spot. Being under the flyover means it stays a bit cooler and shielded from the direct sun, which is nice given the hot weather we get here. We’ve been at this location on the main road for quite some time now. It’s a place where drivers, locals, and people passing through stop in for a meal or a drink. The sound of the traffic overhead is just part of the background noise for us now. We have a simple dining area and a bar section. The kitchen prepares a lot of local dishes because that’s what people around Mangalore usually want to eat. We don’t have any polished corporate training programs or fancy manuals; our staff just learns by doing their work every day. We keep an eye on the tables and try to make sure nobody is waiting too long for their order. It gets pretty humid in this part of town, so we keep the fans going all day long. There isn't much to say about our history other than we opened up and stayed open through the years. We deal with the usual stuff like late deliveries or the power going out during a storm, but we just get on with it. If you’re near the Kottara Chowki flyover, you’ll see our sign.
