Shivsagar Veg Restaurant

We are situated in the Abhiman Residency building, right near Bunts Hostel Circle in Mangalore. It’s a very active part of town, with a lot of shops and people moving about near PAI International on Bunts Hostel Road. Our place is a veg restaurant, and we’ve been serving the local crowd here for a good number of years. It’s not a huge space, but we make it work. Every morning starts with getting the vegetables delivered and starting the prep work in the kitchen. We have a few regular staff members who have been with us for a long time. The noise from the street is always there, but once people sit down to eat, they don't seem to mind much. We don't do anything fancy with the presentation; it’s just the food we’ve always made. We see a lot of office workers during lunch and families in the evenings. Running a kitchen in Mangalore can be hot work, especially in the summer, but we just get on with it. It’s a simple life running a restaurant like this. We don't have big plans to expand or anything; we just want to keep doing what we do every day for the people who come in. It takes a lot of effort to keep the tables turned and the floor swept, but that’s just the daily grind for us. We stay open late and then do it all over again.
